Cob Oven

Costa Rica 2005

Cob, Stone, Clay,
This was my first Cob project, which I learned from books, web, talking with others and from just doing it! The clay is from the surrounding area and is generally pure enough without needing to be filtered. The sand is from a local river bed. Normally I would use sharp sand, but there was enough 'bite' to make it usable. The fibre is Vettiver. This was added to the mix as short-chopped pieces (5 to 10 cm) and also as full-length fibres (up to 1 metre long) added during the building process. We will experience the elementary energy of the rhythm, we will learn how to play drums, we will get to know amazing sounds and learn how to play unknown instruments, we will sing power songs and we will do music jams in which everybody wil be able to feel part of a common wave of rhythm and sound.

Wow, what a place to be in and what a healing workshop (GAIA-Initiation) that we took part in. There were 16 courageous souls working together to let go of what we don't need anymore and bring deep and creative healing to ourselves and the planet. Everything shone ... the weather, the food, the company, the surroundings, the peace, the magic and the constant connection with the heart of nature. I look forward to coming back soon. Much love to the family of Sensaciones and all that are lucky enough to visit her xx

Llegamos a un paraje escondido entre pequeñas montañas donde una vertiente de agua oxigena el valle y propicia que muchos árboles lo cobijen. Sigue siendo verano y el calor es todavía agobiante. Achim nos recoge, nos lleva a pasear el lugar y nos invita a sentirlo – “Nos encontramos en un rato para comer” nos dice y se va dejándonos en nuestra pequeña casa octagonal hecha de arcilla.
