You have hopefully noticed that we dedicate this project to the principles of resonance and authenticity. Here we share some of the practical aspects of this invitation.
Not a Retreat Center
While you certainly may find retreat here, we do not see ourselves as a "retreat center".
A retreat center is typically a venue designed to fulfill client expectations, with professional staff providing maximum comfort and a curated bubble of experience.
In contrast, Resonancia is a real-life project offering participants the most authentic experience of natural communal living. Services are kept to a minimum, and the group itself carries the dynamics of rural community life in a horizontal, co-created way. This allows us to keep fees very low while creating a unique togetherness, where even daily chores can become generators of connection and transformation. When you leave, rather than falling out of a pink bubble into the cruelty of “real life,” we hope you carry with you the green seed of a different way of living.
Laboratory
We call our human-and-nature playground Valle de Sensaciones an *Ecovillage Laboratory*. By “laboratory” we mean not only a place designed for communal explorations under shifting focuses, but also an experiment in itself. There is no existing roadmap to copy, no other project we know of that has achieved exactly what we are aiming for.
Our goal is to provide a space where communitarian dynamics can unfold, while we as the core team remain part of the community as persons,showing up in full authenticity, with all our gifts as well as our shadows and challenges. This requires a constant balance: between offering direction and care versus giving space for organic co-creation, between taking responsibility and accepting imperfection and failure (including the own), between stepping into leadership and inviting the unpredictable, letting go of control. There are moments when this flourishes into unique and powerful dynamics of authenticity, and moments when it becomes messy and unclear. Yet we believe this formula carries a profound and unparalleled healing potential. Be prepared to take part in the process of transformation, offering your wisdom and medicine, so that together we continue to shape the alchemy and toolset of this adventurous path.
Chaos in the Eye of the Beholder
Our environment has been created with much love and inspiring creativity. Yet, let’s be honest: maintaining natural buildings can be challenging, and keeping temple equipment in good condition in the middle of nature even more so. Add to this the fact that everything here is cared for within a free-flowing, learning community, where perfection and polished appearances are not the top priority, especially with our resident artist Achim often lost in his wild project dreams.
As a result, alongside places and objects of enchanting beauty, you may also encounter weathered elements, dusty cushions, or tools left around. On one hand, we are all invited to care for shared spaces and contribute to their welcoming atmosphere through co-creation. On the other hand, decades of experience have shown that each person ultimately shapes their own experience and perceives beauty through their own eyes. Some spend weeks drifting in awe at the endless wonders they discover here, while a few turn back upon arrival, never to be seen again, which, in its own way, is also a good filter ;-)
But those who stay long enough to move beyond initial expectations, sometimes needing several days, almost always leave with deep appreciation for the unique beauty and transformation they found here.
However, please be aware that the photos on our website capture moments of beauty seen through inspired eyes. When you arrive, you will likely find some of the things in a different state, because life here is constantly changing.
Embracing the Change
On our website you will find a wide variety of photos, reflecting the many different moments and experiences throughout the year. Some show large groups in close togetherness, others just a few people, or even a single person immersed in nature. Many capture blissful nakedness in summer, while others reflect elemental living around the bonfire or floating in the hot tub during winter.
Of course, these moments do not all happen at once. Depending on when you come, you may find a tiny group or a larger gathering. We cherish this natural rhythm, as it allows the social energy to "breathe" - relaxing in spaciousness and then gathering into denser human energy, sometimes culminating in big celebrations.
It is not always possible to predict this rhythm, as people often arrive or leave spontaneously, and group dynamics vary between magnetic and vibrant to more introspective and challenging to viceversa.
If specific conditions are crucial for you, please mention this in your correspondence so we can help guide you to the right moment. Still, remember that welcoming the unpredictable is one of the key ingredients of Resonancia. Embracing this authenticity is at the heart of the experience you step into here.
Co-creation vs. Facilitation
Beyond programmed events, Resonancia is not about constant facilitation or entertainment. Our co-living and free Ecovillage Laboratory periods are spaces where authentic communal life can unfold naturally. Participants are invited to take full responsibility for their own experience, to initiate activities, and even to welcome boredom, or call it "moments of empty space”, as openings for the suble inner voice to grow into self-expression and embodied initiative beyond consumer habits.
As a team, we also embrace this freedom: rather than catering to expectations, we join as equal members of the community, contributing through co-creation when it feels right, entering into resonance, or withdrawing into our own time when needed. If you join outside of programmed events, please come without expectations toward the team members, meeting us simply in freedom and personal connection where it arises.
Please note that contributions outside of programmed events cover only the basic costs of maintaining the environment and resources, not structured facilitation. If you are seeking guided facilitation, we invite you to join one of our dedicated events.
Instead, we offer a framework in which group life can authentically unfold in co-creation, without imposing a vision of what should happen or categorizing experiences as "right" or "wrong", which would inherently contradict the principle of non-judgment.
We trust that everyone will have the experience that is right for them, sometimes euphoric and positive, and at other times bringing up challenging emotions. A key learning here is not to externalize these challenges or blame them on external factors, such as the absence of someone ensuring a smooth and effortless experience. For this reason, we welcome participants who are ready to engage in community under these principles.
We trust in each individual's capacity to self-regulate, self-reflect, and grow. Together, we weave a conscious, living field of freedom, truth, and connection.
