Making your own drum is a fascinating experience.
To create its body with all your love, see how it comes together with the leather and hear its first sound ...
Your contact with your instrument will be a different one.
It won't be anymore an alien object with which you may not even know what to do without "knowing" the "right way" of doing it.
It will be your very own drum and you will be able to experiment full of curiosity, and listen to what it is telling you, letting yourself be guided by its touch, its sound and its rhythm.

We will create the body of the drums from agave (pitta), a beautiful plant which shape and structure is ideal to be transformed into a musical instrument. We take advantage of it after it's natural death, so the making of the drum is a total ecological process. Using ancient and professional African techniques, we will fix a goat leather onto this beautiful, natural body, which allow an easy tuning.
The result will be a very beautiful drum with lots of sounds. Its low weight is an advantage for traveling around, and its sound makes it ideal to go with other instruments like guitars, flutes, etc.
We will also be practicing daily exercises which open us to the magic world of energy and to the power of rhythm.
This will help us to get guided by our new drum, which will show us its realm.
